Folklorist Ahmad Sadri

The “United Nations” of music, Silkroad Ensemble celebrates its 20th anniversary with an entirely new concert, conceived by Persian musician Kayhan Kalhor. Known for traditional instruments from dozens of global cultures, Silkroad’s newest collaboration steps into modern history with a composition by jazz pianist Jason Moran dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Since 1998, cellist Yo-Yo Ma and Silkroad Ensemble have undertaken a radical experiment in the face of globalization, elevating music alongside commerce as the bridge between peoples. In 2017, they collaborated with documentary filmmaker Ken Burns and created the original soundtrack for the 18-hour series for PBS, The Vietnam War.
