VISITING EVENT
Nature and Nurture: Becoming Wild
  • Thu., October 27
  • 8PM
  • $25-$55
  • Great Hall (Directions & Parking)

Elizabeth Sellers, award-winning composer and professor at CSUN, and Dr. Carl Safina, MacArthur and Guggenheim Fellow, and ecologist at Stony Brook in NY, have collaborated on a unique concert experience.

Dr. Safina’s profound book, Becoming Wild, has been the inspiration for a narration with orchestra and a companion overture with video, composed by Elizabeth and her students and conducted by Elizabeth. The evening will include Dr. Safina’s discussion of his work and his amazing book.

Becoming Wild is a compelling description of three distinct animal cultures, sperm whales, macaws and chimpanzees. They intrigue us as they mirror our own lifeways, fostering a sense of family, creating beauty and finding peace.

The concert begins at 8 pm and runs without intermission for just under an hour. It is suitable for all ages.
